Traction Chair

This chair is designed to further open up the scoliotic curves and de-rotate the spine. The Scoliosis Traction Chair (STC) uses a specific frequency of vibration, to cause the muscles of the spine to contract at a higher frequency than normal, accelerating healing. Whole Body Vibration is implemented as the entire body is exposed to vibration, as opposed to local vibration (Biomechanical Stimulation, BMS), where an isolated muscle or muscle group is stimulated by the use of a vibration device. A key principle of the scoliosis traction chair is that it allows the patient to work their core muscles in a scoliosis free posture, thus re-training the neuromuscular system to improve alignment and muscle recruitment.


Exercise Steps

PLACEMENT: Lay flat back on the chair and hang your neck over the top edge of the chair.

EXERCISE: Lay on roll for up to 20 minutes.

Next – sit up – look left, right, up and down.

Head Weights

The concept of using weights to correct imbalances in posture was first described by Nicolas Andry, the father of orthopedics, in 1741.  When worn, the body reacts to the weight by shifting its center of mass in the opposite direction, to compensate for the increased load.

The nervous system of the body adapts in time and need to its environment. When a weight is placed on the body in the appropriate manner, and worn for a period of time, the body will adapt to this new position and gradually develop a permanent, healthier, and more balanced position. This reduces stress and strain upon the muscles and can also help low back pain.


Exercise Steps

PLACEMENT: Place securely on head and make sure the weight are sitting straight. Make sure you are using the proper weight for your neck. Don’t go too heavy. 

EXERCISE 1: Lay on roll for up to 20 minutes.

*Do steps daily – preferably in the evening.*
